Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Northwoods Family Eyecare the leading provider of vision care products and services in Chippewa Falls.

Carolyn Kolb, O.D.

Dr. Carrie grew up in the country near Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. She attended University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in psychology and biology. She then completed her optometry degree in Chicago at Illinois College of Optometry. After graduation, she happily returned to Wisconsin where she worked and trained further in an ophthalmology practice outside of Milwaukee. She purchased Northwoods Family Eyecare with her husband Steven in 2019.

Dr. Carrie is passionate about helping patients understand the importance of eye health. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages, and manages many types of ocular disease including dry eye, diabetes, glaucoma and macular degeneration. Dr. Carrie views all her patients as family, and hopes you feel at home with her.

Dr. Carrie is a member of the Indianhead Optometric Society, the Wisconsin Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. She lives in Chippewa Falls with her husband and their three beloved dogs. In her free time you can find Carrie in the kitchen cooking or baking, rollerblading with her busy Brittany (spaniel), and visiting with friends and family.

Denise Glantz Arneson, O.D.

Dr. Denise grew up in Rochester, MN and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1986. She attended the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, earned a bachelor of science degree and graduated with honors in 1990. She then attended The Ohio State University College of Optometry and graduated second in her class with a doctor of optometry degree in 1994.

At OSU, Dr. Denise earned 3 scholarships and the Ciba Vision Contact Lens Achievement Award. She was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the optometric honor society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and was the student representative for the college clinic committee.

Following graduation, Dr. Denise practiced optometry in Cincinnati OH for 2 years. She then moved back to Wisconsin and joined Dr. Arneson in 1996. Dr. Denise enjoys seeing patients of all ages, fitting the latest contact lenses, and treating eye diseases. She has a special interest in functional medicine. She also enjoys trying to keep up with new technology and making sure the office has all the latest equipment.

Dr. Denise is a member of the Indianhead Optometric Society, the Wisconsin Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and volunteers her services to the Open Door Clinic in Chippewa Falls.

Dr. Denise lives in Chippewa Falls with her husband Dr. Lon Arneson and daughter Carly. She is a member of Central Lutheran Church and enjoys fishing, cooking, reading, and traveling.

Steven Schifko – Office Manager

StevenSteven grew up in Saint Louis, MO. He attended University of Missouri at Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) and received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  He moved to North Chicago in 2011 for an internship, and met Carrie just a few years later.  He continued working for the same company for nine years in product design, specializing in power electronics. He plans to continue doing contract work in his specialty while he manages the office.

Steven enjoys classic cars (currently restoring a ’72 Camaro), his dogs, tinkering on electronics, hockey (Let’s Go Blues!), warm weather, Japanese culture, and good food.

Michelle – Optician

Michelle has been with Northwoods Family Eyecare for over 17 years.  She is an expert in frame fitting and adjusting.
